Maria Bagnoli is a print making artist based in Blacklion, Co. Cavan who graduated with an honours degree in Fine Art from Camberwell School of Art, London in 1984. Her exhibition is a selected collection of prints based on childhood memories using photographs and seeks to externalise visually the personal attachment to these memories. From the processes in photo silkscreen and other mediums, there is a shift from representational to abstract images and then this shifts again. This aims to reflect the link between idea and selected method and choice of medium and to investigate the creative thought process which is paramount to her as an artist.
Marvin Baldemor is a self-taught Filipino artist, who, until his untimely passing in January this year was living with his family in Donegal.
Marvin was an artist who continuously experimented with new artistic concepts. This led him to discover that old and tested art processes could be applied on non-traditional materials as mediums, and that the final products are often visually appealing works of art.
Innovation along with everyday mundane events were his inspiration in creating new crafts. While acrylic, watercolour, pen and ink on canvas, wood and various art papers are his tools, the Plaza, the marketplace, churches, and the people were his favourite destinations.
These traits are what he considers “the soul of the place”.
We at Solas gallery would like to extend our deepest sympathies to Isabel, Marvin’s wife, and their family and are privileged to have his soul in our place as transcribed through his talent as an artist.
The exhibition will be opened by internationally recognised impressionist and abstract trait artist Maria Noonan McDermott.
