Solas Art Gallery is delighted to present Three Artists, One Gallery: An exhibition of Landscape and Nature inspired by Ireland, featuring artists from Brazil, Sweden and Great Britain.
Opening on Friday 21st February at 7.30 pm the work of Delzimar Doherty, Ana Stromberg and Alistair Swatridge will lead us through three visions of Ireland’s nature.
‘Colours Around Us’, Delzimar Doherty (Mara Painter) is from Brazil and is now living in Annaduff. Delzimar describes her painting as an extension of nature. It shows in her paintings through the use of bright colours and almost shows realism in them.
Delzimar loves to represent nature on her canvas, using bright colours to highlight the details and expressions of her subjects.
In the past year, she has fallen in love with farm animals and has been exploring their characters, attempting to see the animal’s souls through their eyes.
‘Skies, Stones and Mammals’, Ana Stromberg is a Swedish artist who has lived and worked in Glencolumbkille since 1992. Ana has a keen observational eye brings us beautifully rendered renditions of our landscape and seascape. She works in both oils and watercolours trying to share emotions she feels from big and small scenes in her environment.
Combining reality and fantasy she creates a vision entirely her own.
‘Crashing Waves …. Smashing Seas’, Alistair Swatridge is from Dorset In England now living in Lisnaskea and has had an emotional attachment to the sea from a young age. His work evokes the experience and sensations associated with the sea, whether it be the peace and tranquility of a calm day to the utter fear of dislocation experienced in a storm.
He states; “That feeling of being part of the painting, part of the surroundings, is there every time and makes every painting become a part of me.”
The show will be opened by Shane Ellis and will continue till 21st March.
